The Fingers

There are 3 branches within Palmistry

Cheirognomy - This deals with the consistency and flexibility of the hand, texture of the skin, the length of each finger, the three phalanxes and the fingertips, whether spatulate, square, conic or pointed, and, most importantly, the thumb, its flexibility together with the development of the seven mounts; all these are valuable in determining the character of a person.

There are seven types of hands

Square Hand, Elementary Hand, Conic Hand, Spatulate Hand, Philosophic Hand, Psychic Hand, and the Mixed Hand

Each type is identified by specific characteristics. For example, the features of square hand are the square shape of the palm, and the square tips of the fingers. People with such a hand are orderly, punctual and precise. They respect law and order, and they love discipline. They are tenacious and they win by great application and force of character. They have little originality on their characteristics. You will find different types of will have different temperaments and character.

Cheiromancy - This deals with the chief lines of the hand, which are Life Line, Head Line, and the Heart Line. Other major lines include the Line of Fate or Saturn Line, Line of Apollo or Sun Line. The minor lines are Girdle of Venus, Line of Health, Line of Intuition, Line of Mars, Lines of Affection, Influence Lines and Rascettes or Bracelets. The strength and the direction of lines in conjunction with each type of hand will determine the actions and habits and the significant events in the life of a person that will lead to success in career, health, wealth, love, marriage, children and happiness.

Dermatoglyphics - The word dermatoglyphics comes from two Greek words, (derma, skin and glyphe, carve) and refers to the friction ridge formations, which appear on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.  Characteristically, hair does not grow from this area.  The ridging formations serve well to enhance contact, an area of multiple nerve endings (Dermal Papillae) and aids in the prevention of slippage.  People of African ancestry display reduced skin pigmentation in the designated locations.  All studies of the dermal ridge arrangements including genetics, anthropology and Egyptology are classified under the term dermatoglyphics.

The ridge formations of the skin of an individual begin to appear during the third and fourth month of fetal development.  After death, decomposition of the skin is last to occur in the area of the dermatoglyphic configurations.  There have been many instances in which the only identifiable part of a deceased person was the friction ridge formations.
